MEET THE GROOMER-KATE
I have always known since I was young that I would work with animals. I spent many happy hours through my childhood with our family pets. At 14 I began working as an Animal Attendant in a local boarding kennel, which is where I still continue to work. Following my interest and passion for animal care, I studied Certificates II and III in Animal Studies through VCAL. After leaving school, I continued to work as well as begin a Veterinary Nursing course through TAFE. During this course, I noticed beautifully clipped and groomed dogs on campus. These dogs looked amazing and I was very interested in the process and skill of grooming and personal care of dogs. Putting my studies on hold at this point, I continued to work, but researched and read many articles about grooming. In 2019, I decided to return to TAFE, this time I studied grooming. WOW!!! I was hooked, even to the point where I bought my own mobile grooming trailer. I continue to work at the kennels which I still love. I now groom there as well as for my mobile business - Short Bark N Sides.
