Are you qualified?
Yes, I hold a Certificate III in Pet Grooming, Certificate II and III in Animal Studies and have worked at a boarding kennel for over 10 years.
Are you a mobile groomer?
Yes, I'm a mobile dog groomer located in the Yarra Valley. I require access to a power point, water tap and space for a long car and trailer (I provide an extension power cord (60m), hose (60m) and tap connections). Please inform Kate if you are not on mains water.
Please note due to working with dogs, I try to run on schedule but this can't always be promised - matting, difficult/ scared dogs or traffic hazards may put me behind. If this occurs I will contact you with an approximate arrival time. I apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding. I also ask that you refrain from checking how your dog or I am going whilst in the trailer. This can sometimes upset your dog which may then take a long process to resettle them.
What happens if the groom I'm after isn't listed?
I am happy to answer any questions or queries you may have.
What payment methods are available?
I accept cash and bank transfer. Bank Transfer details are given after the groom, If payment hasn't been received with in a week a reminder text or call will be given.
How far in advance do I need to book an appointment?
I recommend booking a week in advance so I can offer the day that suits you, or if you rebook after your groom, a reminder text can be organised if needed. Booking in advance for peak periods (long weekends and school holidays) is essential.
My dog is quite matted, why does the clip have to be so short?
To manually break up the matts is quite stressful for the dog as well as time consuming. It is usually not an option. Clipping through matted fur can be uncomfortable for the dog. The hair becomes caught between the blade or comb teeth which could result in cutting the skin. Matts need to be clipped with a short blade underneath. If your dog is quite matted please let me know when booking, as the appointment will take longer and your dog will require breaks. An extra charge will also be added due to the extra time spent with your dog.
Can I be present during grooming?
While it doesn't bother me, I find the dogs can become more restless and excitable when the owners are present. In addition, due to the present COVID restrictions and maintaining social distancing, the trailer does not have the floor space requirements for any other person to enter the trailer.
How long does it take to groom a dog?
The time depends on what type of grooming treatment you are wanting, the dogs size, temperament and coat condition. Normally once I've meet your dog and felt the condition of the coat, I can give you an approximate time frame. An average pamper session is 1-2 hours.
Your dogs well being, safety and comfort is my first priority. I will never push any dog beyond what he/she is comfortable with, this will help to build a positive relationship for future grooms.
Do I need to be home while you're grooming?
Normally, I do like you to be around for the first visit to see where to park, access to power and water, as well as to meet you and your dog to talk about the groom and your requirements.
In the event of severe weather conditions you may be contacted to reschedule your dogs grooming session for the safety of both your dog and myself
